Evidence-Based
Financial Analysis
Select a publicly traded company below to initiate an autonomous analysis. FinTrace retrieves the latest SEC filing, extracts structured XBRL financial data, computes quantitative metrics, and produces a fully cited research report.
How the Pipeline Works
FinTrace AI operates as a deterministic four-stage pipeline. Each stage consumes structured data from the previous stage and produces typed outputs consumed by the next. No stage relies on parametric model knowledge for financial facts.
Retrieve
Identify the target company via SEC Central Index Key (CIK) and fetch structured company facts from the SEC EDGAR XBRL API. All requests include required User-Agent headers and respect rate limits.
SEC EDGAR Company Facts APIExtract
Parse the us-gaap taxonomy tree using prioritized concept mappings. Each financial metric is located through multiple equivalent XBRL tags with automatic fallback ordering to maximize data coverage.
Multi-tag XBRL ParsingCompute
Normalize annual filings, compute derived values where direct data is unavailable, calculate six standard financial ratios, and analyze year-over-year trends with anomaly detection.
Quantitative Analysis EngineReport
Synthesize all metrics, trends, and risk signals into a structured report where every conclusion cites its SEC source. Confidence scores are computed from data completeness, not subjective assessment.
Evidence-Backed Report GenerationResearch Contributions
FinTrace introduces several methodological contributions to the field of autonomous financial analysis, each addressing specific limitations of existing approaches to computational financial research.
Deterministic Financial Pipeline
Unlike conversational AI systems that generate text from parametric knowledge, FinTrace AI executes a fully deterministic pipeline of retrieval, extraction, computation, and synthesis. Every output is reproducible given the same ticker input.
Full pipeline traceabilityVerifiable Source Citation
Every financial figure in every report links to its source SEC XBRL concept, fiscal period, and filing metadata. Citations include direct references to the SEC EDGAR system, enabling independent verification of all data points.
Transparent methodologyObjective Confidence Scoring
Confidence scores are computed deterministically from data completeness — the proportion of core financial fields successfully extracted from SEC XBRL. This replaces subjective assessment with a measurable, reproducible quality metric derived from regulatory data availability.
Data-driven confidence assessmentOpen Research Framework
The complete system architecture, pipeline design, and methodology are documented for academic scrutiny. All data sources are public (SEC EDGAR), all computations use defined formulas, and the reasoning chain is fully transparent.
Reproducible researchTechnology Pipeline
The analysis pipeline consists of five sequential stages, each producing structured data consumed by the next. The pipeline is fully observable — the intermediate state at each stage can be inspected independently.

All data flows unidirectionally. No stage modifies the output of a previous stage. The complete intermediate state is available for inspection at each stage boundary.
Research Disclaimer
FinTrace AI is a research prototype developed by [University] AI Lab for academic investigation into autonomous financial analysis systems. It is not intended for investment decision-making, financial advisory, or any commercial use.
The system does not incorporate qualitative factors, management guidance, industry context, macroeconomic analysis, or other information that a professional equity analyst would consider when forming an investment opinion.
All financial data is sourced from the SEC EDGAR system. While every effort is made to ensure accurate extraction and computation, the system may encounter non-standard XBRL tags, restated financials, or other reporting variations that affect data quality.
This system produces AI-generated research outputs. All analyses should be independently verified before being used for any purpose. The [University] AI Lab assumes no liability for decisions made based on system outputs.
